State-owned Bulgarian gas company Bulgargaz and Turkish company Botas have signed an agreement that gives Bulgargaz access to Turkish transmission for liquefied natural gas (LNG) with a transfer capacity of 1.5 billion cubic metres (bcm) annually.

Turkey’s five LNG terminals, the Saros floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) will play a key role in this deal.

The deal will also allow Bulgargaz to import gas through Turkiye’s pipelines of Iran and Azerbaijan.
