    Samarkand  Uzbek:Самарқанд, Samarqand, pronounced [samarqand, –qant]; Tajik: Самарқанд; Arabic, Persian, Urdu: سمرقند is a city in Uzbekistan, located in the southeastern part of the country. It is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world and has a rich history and cultural heritage. Samarkand was an important stop on the ancient Silk Road trade route, which brought great wealth and prosperity to the city. It is known for its magnificent architectural wonders, including the Registan, a complex of three beautiful madrasas, as well as the Bibi-Khanym Mosque and the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis. Today, Samarkand remains a popular tourist destination, drawing visitors from all over the world who come to experience its unique blend of history, culture, and beauty.
